No One’s Watching pairs exciting new alternative live acts with expansive-minded dancefloor DJs. It’s currently held bi-monthly at the 100-capacity SET in Dalston, which was described by a punter at the last event ‘as a cross between the Twin Peaks red lodge and a northern working man’s club… with a Martin Audio sound system’.
After a round of belting electronics in September with Second Storey, Loraine James, Julia Star, Suny and covert secret guest DJ Pangaea… we take things a little more fuzzed-out for November…
LOST CAT (Some Loops EP launch)
Jo Case aka LOST CAT perfectly embodies the NWW ethos – managing to be simultaneously super-fun, playful, soul-searching and emotional. Amidst the tail end of the Bristol free party scene of the late 2000s, while everyone she knew was making and partying to techno and dubstep, Jo was hunting out obscure 1970’s psychedelic folk albums and weird, fuzzy indie music.
Her 2nd EP is out on Precious Snowflake (the label run by our resident DJ PLS) on Nov 16th and it’s beautiful – lofi layers of enveloping noise and great songs… think Broadcast, Sufjan Stevens, Arthur Russell etc.
‘dreamy…eerie. psychedelic’ Highground.
The NWW residents (and Precious Snowflake label-mates) are a London-based electronic, avant-pop group. They have played headline shows in London for Parallel Lines and Soundcrash, performed at the Wire-curated Drill Festival (with Vessels, Grumbling Fur, Savages, Young Fathers etc) and have been supported on Radio 1 (Huw Stephens), BBC Introducing and by Andrew Weatherall on BBC 6 Music and NTS.
‘Making the apocalypse sound fun’ Electronic Sound.
