Watch The Ride #5 with Sully & Shannen SP // Tola // London 18/05/18

#1

The fifth instalment of Watch The Ride sees us heading back down South to take over TOLA, Peckham’s most exciting new club space tucked away unassumingly under a phone repairs shop. This is easily our favourite line-up to date, with legend-in-the-making Sully heading things up and a selection of South London’s finest DJs in support. We hope you can join us.

SULLY - https://soundcloud.com/sullye64
(Keysound / Astrophonica / Black Acre)

Sully aka Jack Stevens is an understated folk hero, a low key elusive bass producer with a fiercely passionate fanbase. Long before – four of five years before – the UK garage revival kicked in and “future” garage had even been dreamt up, Sully began finding a space between 2step’s swing, dubstep’s edge and breakstep’s drums, all underpinned by the rude spirit of jungle. He displayed a deft touch for heart-breaking melodies that could touch people as much as the ruff sub bass could hit them, on EPs like ‘Phonebox’ and ‘Jackman’s Rec.’

SHANNEN SP
(Hyperdub / NTS)

Shannen SP is a London based DJ, curator and resident at the club night Ø, a monthly event at Corsica Studios combining immersive installations and music. She has a monthly show on NTS Radio - I.D.S.T, on which she assimilates a wealth of styles with a certain focus on sounds from South Africa, Angola and the U.K. Recent shows, including a Boiler Room, have seen her play on line ups with a wide range of artists from Mica Levi to DJ Lag as well as guesting on radio shows with UNITI and Ikonika.

FRONT LEFT LIFE

Emanating out of Catford, Lewisham, brotherly duo Front Left Life have been infiltrating the airwaves since 2015. Balancing soundsystem pressure, alien atmospheres and rave ordnance, the leftfield innovations of SUED are just as likely heard in a FLL set as speed garage’s bass-heavy whomp. Via radio and parties IRL, the South Londoners have hosted everyone from The Trilogy Tapes founder Will Bankhead to Dresvn (Dynamo Dreesen and SVN) and 140 innovator Benny Ill (Horsepower Productions).

F17

F17 is WTR family. One of the most underrated DJs in the city and owner of the baddest record collection known to man (despite nearly losing half of it on the tube). His sets are enjoyed best with a bottle of bucky, downed as fast as possible whilst spinning around in a circle. It also happens to be his 24th on the night so this will be the official F17 BiRtHdA¥ Ba$Hh !! :birthday: Be sure to come down and show him some birthday love x
