Dude debuted on Warp in 1998, released three bizarre LPs on Domino and just made his first record in ten years, a messed-up pop album with Daphne & Celeste and it is weirdo melodic fun in the extreme:
Good to have him back in some way. Saw him DJ to a nearly empty tent at Field Day a few years back - hopefully this new one will put him on the map.
I’ve been listening to Max Tundra for about 17 years and this new Daphne & Celeste album is maybe my favorite thing from him, I’ve been listening to it so much. For anyone without Spotify, the album is also up as those official YouTube topic videos, with minimal region restrictions, so you can probably check it there too.
He also recently released a charity single of some instrumental tracks, good stuff.
MBGATE is quite easily one of my favorite albums of all time. I did not love the first D&C single that came out last year (I didn’t hate it either) and have not really spent a whole lot of time with the full-length yet.

Yeah, the other songs on the Daphne & Celeste album are a bit more Tundra-like than the original single. Try A.L.T.O., 16 Stars and Paint Can, if you like his other stuff.
