OOOOooooooohhhhh :fire::fire::fire::fire::fire::fire:

Return to form I think, even though the lyrics have stayed quality.

Beats are on point, samples are great, not too long not too short. I vibe it definitely. Got me excited to see what the other 4 Kanye albums will bring next month.

#3

i have not really listened to any raps for aaagggees, meaning to listen to the new roc marci people been raving about, is this daytona still coke raps and 2-layer metaphors?

that numbers on the board lick still bangs in 2018 tho

*edit, isn’t that a pic of whitney hustons app when she died? if so baaaad form mr.T’s visual comms team. bad form

“is this daytona still coke raps and 2-layer metaphors?”

No doubt.

“isn’t that a pic of whitney hustons app when she died? if so baaaad form mr.T’s visual comms team. bad form”

Yes it is. Apparently Kanye payed 85k to license it.

Numbers On The Board easily one of the best beats of all time, never ceases to put my face sideways.

I feel like it’s more a conscious decision by Ye as a commentary on the relationship between celebrity and drugs. Links in well to push’s career and the theme and content of the album. Distasteful maybe but so is a lot of art.

I hated this. As soon as Pusha opened his mouth I tuned out, it was only 20 minutes but they were the longest I’ve spent in a while. I don’t think the beats were very interesting, or the lyrics, and the features were just awful. I can’t believe it but Pusha T may be the most boring artist on his own label. I would rather hear Sheck Wes say “BITCH” 10 times than listen to Daytona again.

#9

interesting. what hip hop have you been into recently?

#10

mostly newer guys like Yung Bans, Playboi Carti, Denzel Curry

#11

Kind of a shame the record is overshadowed by his beef with Drake, although I’m sure it’s moving units for him.

But yeah, this is pretty great. It feels like the major label version of a Westside Gunn album.

TBH I’m just the tiniest bit miffed he changed the title, if you’re gonna go and set up something as unwieldy as King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude you might as well actually follow through with the main event.

This is easily the best thing to come out of this new Kanye onslaught. Actually got me interested in post-Clipse Pusha for the first time in… forever. He seems less dour and (dare I say it) boring on this, and the album being so concise makes it addictive listening.

‘If You Know You Know’ is a belter of an opener too, proper earworm.

I’m happy that with DAYTONA and it’s short length, Push is able to make an album that’s just him rapping on the weirdest beats without any filler. Personally, I love the grimey electronic production provided by the Neptunes, and DAYTONA hits that spot for me.
