No Order

  • JPEGMafia - Veteran
  • Skee Mask - Compro

#8

been a bit of a lacklustre year so far TBH (clearly - 2 of these are technically reissues)

Keysha - Stop It
Khruangbin - Con Todo del Mundo
Proc Fiskal - Insula
Omar S - That’s Me
Katamari Damacy soundtrack

things that were in this list that then got deleted to make it 5: Funkee C/Livin Proof EP; Peggy Gou - Itgehane

Oh I’ve been meaning to check that out, I love that original album.

Mine so far, tho there’s a bunch of others that I think are really excellent:

Daphne & Celeste - Daphne & Celeste Save The World
Autechre - NTS Sessions 1-4
Simone Forti - Al Di La
Oneohtrix Point Never - Age Of
Biliana Voutchkova / Michael Thieke - Blurred Music

#10

Skee Mask- Compro
DJ Koze- Knock Knock
DJ Healer- Nothing 2 Loose
Autechre- NTS 1-4
Serpentwithfeet- Soil

That 5th one could be anything right now though. A lot of stuff I’ve been looking forward to came out too recently for me to say top 5. Also been listening to a lot of music outside of the sort of stuff discussed here. For example, the new Mournful Congregation record is easily top 5 for me. Even though it’s slow as anything, the melodies are so deep and rich that it remains captivating the whole time. And when the composition does progress it is always like a wave breaking.

Sarah Davachi - Let Night Come On Bells End The Day
Christina Vantzou No. 4
CV & JAB — Zin Taylor - Thoughts of a Dot as it Travels a Surface

If we put the two CV albums together, 200% Galcher might edge in there. I duno.

That Janelle Monae record is pretty much flawless. The only track I’m lukewarm on is the Pharell one, but even that’s grown on me. Yes it wears its influences on its sleeve but she has so much personality that it’s definitely her own record. I absolutely love it.

#18

yep, same here, not real big on the Pharrell track…it’s but a small price to pay for an otherwise perfect record

#19

ya ya forums getting good this will be a fun list to listen through

reminding me i need to give that janelle monae a few more listens, liked what i heard but it didnt quite stick, got washed away in the flood of streams

I can hardly manage a top 3 giving I am at least 2 years behind and still checking out 2015-16 releases.

I do, however, recommend the recent Jon Hassell album “Listening to pictures”. Perhaps also the Topdown Dialectic album, though I am still on the fence about that one.
