Chain Reaction Appreciation

Oh man, talk about a never-ending thread…glad to see that Matrix record highlighted, it’s a real gem (and housey as hell!)

Personally, I’m partial to the many dub techno mutations of Torsten Profröck (Resilience, Various Artists, Erosion all on Chain Reaction) Been SUPER obsessed with his DIN record label started a year after Chain Reaction’s birth in 1995 and that played like a more IDM-informed dub techno variant (featuring clutch early records from Pole, Arovane, and Monolake). But it’s his material as Dynamo that finds its way into my sets all the goddamn time…though this one is brutal to mix with due to its non-gridded breakdown, its synthesis of dub techno sonics with steelcut breaks still sounds fresher than most.

As far as Chain Reaction twelves go, currently been re-assessing the Monolake output from 96 and 97 as it’s way more krautrock/motorik-informed than I remember and this track builds on the Dynamo formula while integrating whiffs of junglist tropes.

We might disagree in another thread:wink: but not on this. Vocalcity is _the dub house album. Never surpassed since

Haha! Great to find some common ground as well…
